Contract July 22 to September 1 2018.

$14/hour, 30 hours per week for 6 weeks.

Studio Dreamshare is an independent studio for the arts in Pembroke, Ontario. During the school year, Studio Dreamshare offers music lessons, art lessons and events, and video production.    This summer’s focus is an acting camp for youth and an independent film production.  The production, Stel and the Violin, is a full-length feature film for children set and filmed entirely in the Ottawa Valley.  Studio Dreamshare is hiring a summer student with a background in acting, production, and camp staffing to work primarily on these projects from July 22 to September 1.

Job Description

July 22-August 5: Constructing sets, making costumes

Sewing and assembling children’s costumes to complement animal headpieces (think Peter Pan meets Mad Max)

Labelling and organizing costumes by scene

Painting backdrops

Soliciting extras for the film, keeping a contact file, release forms, and writing communications

Plan three days of acting workshops and a roster of activities for the kids

August 5-August 11: Setup for camp, finalize costumes and workshops

August 11-13: Lead acting workshops and activities for youth (film or stage background acceptable)

Prepare snacks for the youth participants

Help keep the studio orderly

August 14-19: Quiet on set!  You will be the primary child and crowd wrangler supervising volunteers and camp participants on set, location prepping, managing props, organizing transport of actors, etc. (Other on set duties as needed)

August 19-September 1: wrap up filming, takedown and cleanup of sets.  You will help with video editing if that is part of your skillset!


We are looking for someone to join our team who is an all-around creative, able to jump into various roles as needed.  It is essential that you are able to run acting workshops and activities with the youth participants.  You must be able to help with costumes and sets.  Your availability must be on-call from August 10-20.  Positive attitude essential; you are an ideal candidate if your references can tell us that you are enthusiastic about your work, a problem-solver, and get along well with others.  Film editing skills a bonus.   Make-up skills a bonus.  On set film experience is a bonus, but not essential.


  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
  • have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

Term of employment adjustable to July 15 – August 26 if necessary for your school schedule.
